I (EC) had been playing with the idea of applying principles (not methods) to nutrition for some time. I found a lot of nutrition questions were the result of not understanding certain foundational concepts. That was the impetus for authoring these 10 Principles of Nutrition.
It started as two – quality and quantity – which were the cornerstone of my Ignite (Boulder) talk in 2017.
That expanded to ten and were first published in Nov 2019 on my blog and Instagram. To note, there is no order of importance (the order I believe is best for teaching purposes), and I am open to changing them if necessary.
You’ll notice no specific food choices are listed – by design. These are my current beliefs of the underlying physiological and psychological truths that determine nutrition success (be it in weight, health or performance). And when you understand these basic principles of nutrition well, your confusion will fade away.
And as much as I love the #800gChallenge® and Lazy Macros® – those are two ways (methods) to apply these principles. The principles are my main nutrition message, not the methods.
